It’s official! Malaysia is really taking the war on drinking a little too far and playing the role of God himself.
The case of beer drinking model remains unsolved and the government goes and bans Black eyed concert for Muslims on 25th sep 2009. This is going to create a lot of resentment among the hard core fans of Black eyed Peas. One reason could be the on going fasting month of Muslims.
Officially, the stand from the Ministry claims the concert should never have been allowed since alcohol companies are not allowed to sponsor concerts is its policy . But then how was it allowed should be investigated instead of penalising the public and segregating 55% of Malaysiann population. The concert could be toned down by not selling beer to Muslims at the concert.
Beer Giant Guinness is celebrating its 250th anniversary worldwide and sponsored the event holding the concert.Malaysia’s Guinness Anchor’s sales in 2008 were Rm.1.2 billion and growing. But now that the concert is allowed how can the resentment of fasting muslims be contained.
The organisors open the once in a lifetime party only to non muslims above 18 years.Muslims are barred from comsuming alcohol and raids at night clubs have raise issues on choices malaysians have in recent times.
